It is undoubtedly true that the percussion section is the most exciting and versatile sub-unit of the symphony orchestra. Millions of instruments, neatly and beautifully soloed irons and pieces of wood, plastic buckets and bagged knives: almost anything can become a percussion instrument. And it will be: an hour of percussionists exploring the exciting world of percussion, from tribal drumming to rock and roll and beyond. It's worth joining in, in fact it will be almost compulsory, because after all, everyone can, or at least used to, drum.
