Some people don't want to rush into the big decision of their lives: marriage. So is Sempronio, the mad pharmacist who, well past the point of old age, decides to settle down and crown his retirement with a marriage proposal to the pharmacy's young in-house sweetheart, Grilletta. Little does the grumpy old man know, of course, that he has at least two and a half (!) other suitors besides himself trying to win the appetising lady's affections. Intrigue and love, disguises and mistakes, a lot of humour and of course Haydn's wonderful music make this forty-five minute performance unforgettable.
